The day has arrived.
There’s a high chance that you didn’t get much sleep the night before because- who can sleep when they are GETTING MARRIED the very next day.
The time between waking up and heading towards the ceremony can absolutely crucial in setting the tone for the day. Even with all of the best planning in the world, there is a chance that things may go wrong. But the morning period is the time to mentally accept that fact and prepare to have a great day, no matter what.
Here are some fun ways to bring the right atmosphere to your wedding morning!
The “Bride Tribe”
Make sure that you only have the people that you want there, getting ready with you in the morning. For some brides that will be mum, dad, aunts and uncles as well as all the bridesmaids. For others it will just be closest friends/family. You may even want to get ready on your own! No matter what the number is, make sure that you are surrounded by people that will raise your spirits and not stress you out!
Eat something
Your dress may be extremely tight and you may feel as though 1 calorie will cause you to explode out of it- but it won’t. Designate someone to nip to Tesco’s or Aldi or even Waitrose (go crazy- it’s your wedding) the night before. Some croissants, fruit and fresh juice could be just what you need to set the mood for the day! They are light enough to not leave you feeling too sluggish, but will fill you up enough to dispel those pre-wedding jitters. And your fiance probably knows better than anyone, how much better your mood is once you’ve had something to eat. It’s literally science. So don’t skip it on this all important day! He’ll thank you for it.
Have a good playlist ready
Having some fun music to sing along to in the morning will help you to get into the right mood! Have a little dance around while you’re getting ready and get the party started early.
Designated Disaster Deterrer
As mentioned earlier, it is inevitable that somethings will go wrong, however it is important to have a Designated Disaster Deterrer. Said person will receive the disastrous information and triage the stuff that needs to filter through to you, and the stuff that can be dealt with by other people. Even for brides who like to be in control of every detail- you need time to focus on the joy of the commitment that you are about to make. The maid of honour would probably be our top pic- and having an equivalent on the groom’s side would be essential for coordinating situations between both camps.
Time
This one is for the “bride tribe”. How many weddings have we been to where the bride has been unfashionably late, because the bridesmaids were not ready? In the grand scheme of things, this is not the worst thing that could ever happen- but being unexpectedly late can have a knock on effect on the rest of the day. This is especially true if you are moving between venues, or there are multiple parts of the day to consider. As a member of the bride tribe, it is important to try not to add any stressors to the day. You have been handpicked by the bride, to be by her side. If you know that you take 4 hours to get ready- prepare for that. Even if everyone else is still asleep. Try to do all that you can to make the morning as stress-free as possible!
Traditions
It would be great to have a little moment at the start of the day, that is just about you/you and your family. Some brides have letters that they wrote to themselves to read on the morning of their wedding day. Some like to have special one to one moments with certain people on the morning before the ceremony. Its a great time to focus on your own family and traditions before you officially join two families together.
These are just a few tips to get us started, and we’ll probably gather more as time goes on!
As previously mentioned, the morning before is the last time you are alone before you make the biggest commitment of your life!
Savour that time, and look to the future with enthusiasm and excitement… You’re getting married!!!!!!
